Kana Dehara was born and raised in OSAKA, JAPAN.
Kana started to play piano when she was 3 years old. She continued taking private lessons for the next 10 years. In that period Kana expanded her knowledge and understanding of music tremendously.
When she was 11 years old, she won the “Classical Junior Piano Competition", and won the opportunity to play Mozart piano concerto “Concert Rondo" as her first professional concert. A few years later when she was 13 years old, she won the same competition and played Beethoven Piano Concert No.1 with Euphonica Orchestra. Then she enrolled at KC College in Japan as a classical performance major when she was 18 years old.
She graduated KC College as honor student in 2004. Professors expected her to become a classical pianist, but when she discovered Jazz, she felt that was a turning point in her life. The music inspired her to come to America where Jazz was born.
After she received $10,000 scholarship from Berklee College of Music, she was able to begin her studies in the Jazz field.
She graduated from Berklee college of music with diploma in “Professional Music" in 2008. Since then, Kana has been actively performing in United States and Japan at venues including Regatta Jazz club,Ryles Jazz club, Mr. Kelly’s ,Japan, Carnegie hall, NY, Lincoln center, NY, Symphony Hall and many more.

In 2009 she joined Boston’s renown, award-winning group “Zili Misik" as their keyboardist and back vocalist. Since then "Zili Misik" has received "Boston Phoenix Award", "Boston Globe - Most Fashionable Bostonians Award".
She also is the principal pianist of the “VGO orchestra, Boston.

Currently she is working mainly on expanding her musical language and forming her distinct style.
